Comnett's HistoryAugust 2, 1996 -- ComNett was the first ISP to provide local service to Moapa Valley. With a 56k fractional T-1 to the Internet, and Internet services provided by remote providers, ComNett eliminated the need to dial long distance to get on the net.
November 24, 1996 -- ComNett cuts its apron strings with ITS, a Utah Internet Provider, and begins independent service with MCI via a 128k fractional T-1 connection to the internet, and its own Linux server. December 15, 1996 -- ComNett invests in a high speed, 48 port RAS server from Ascend, a service that provides automatic modem reset, radius authentication, and T-1 connection ports. January 10, 1997 -- ComNett upgrades its RAS modems to the new, faster 56k modems, one of the first ISPs in the country to do so, and again, the first ISP in Nevada to offer 56k access. February 1998 -- ComNett moves into a new office at 196 S. Moapa Valley Blvd, providing store frontage to its growing customer base. July 1, 1998 -- ComNett becomes the first ISP in the state of Nevada to offer high speed DSL service. July 15, 1998 -- ComNett jumps to a full T-1 access to the Internet and purchases its second Ascend RAS, providing significantly faster internet access to Moapa Valley August 1, 1998 -- ComNett installs a Firewall Server providing security and protection to DSL customers operating on the DSL network. September 1, 1999 -- ComNett introduces TradeNett, an online, user controlled classified ad service for its customers. The service is free and is an instant hit with Moapa Valley internet users. November 1, 1999 -- ComNett purchases its third Ascend RAS. December 1, 1999 -- ComNett invests in a second server for processing email only. February 5, 2000 -- ComNett upgrades all its servers to high speed Pentium IIIs and adds a dedicated Web Server to its array of servers. December 1, 2000 -- ComNett begins its new, lower cost, DSL service to Moapa Valley. February 1, 2001 -- ComNett launches its revolutionary High Speed 2 meg Wireless Internet service in Moapa Valley. September 1, 2001 -- ComNett erects a 45ft Wireless tower at it's Overton office, providing greater wireless coverage to the Overton area. November 1, 2001 -- ComNett introduces Postini spam and virus filtering protection. March 1, 2002 -- ComNett erects a second 40ft wireless tower in the Logandale sandhills to provide better wireless coverage and access. December 1, 2005 -- Comnett is acquired by Adam & Janice Hardy January, 2006 -- Comnett erects the first in a series of new "Next Generation" wireless towers. This first tower is located on the west side of Logandale, offering a stronger signal, better coverage, and increased reliability. March, 2006 -- Comnett erects the second of our "Next Generation" wireless towers. This tower is located near the Overton Airport. |
